Digital Devices and Social Media

All NSW Public School students must follow the new Digital Devices policy which governs the student use of digital devices and online services.

In today’s world, digital literacy is a fundamental skill to develop the necessary skills for 21st century learning. BWPS provides Chromebooks for Year 2, Stage 2 and 3 students, as well as iPads for K-1 students so that children develop the necessary skills to become confident with digital tools and platforms, which are crucial for academic success and future employment. Importantly, we provide them the skills and knowledge to be critical and cautious users of technology.

Our school also uses Facebook and Instagram to promote our school and connect with our wider community. We adhere to safety guidelines to foster a respectful and secure environment for all users on our platforms.

School Management and Leadership

Our school fosters a positive and inclusive environment through clear behaviour expectations and strong leadership, ensuring every student feels safe, respected, and supported in their learning journey.

Student leadership helps young people find their voices, participate in decision-making, and understand their rights and responsibilities as active citizens. It helps students have a real impact on their learning and school environment and prepares them to participate meaningfully in their community.

Students can be leaders in the classroom, through their actions in the playground, through their support for others, or their involvement in academic, sporting, cultural or local community events or projects.

BWPS Policies

As well as following the department’s operational policies, we have developed frameworks for our students in line with our school’s values and commitments.

Attendance and absences

Students must attend school regularly so they can achieve their educational best and increase their career and life options.

In NSW, all children from the age of 6 are legally required to attend school or be registered for home schooling through the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA). All students must complete Year 10, or its equivalent and remain in school, employment or training until they turn 17.
