πBODY Domain in Our Classrooms π
At BWPS, we are proud to use the Berry Street Education Model (BSEM) to support every childβs wellbeing and learning. One important part of BSEM is the BODY domain.
The BODY domain helps students learn how to calm their bodies, stay alert, and manage their energy levels so they can focus and be ready to learn. When students feel settled and in control of their bodies, they are more confident, happier, and more successful at school.
Some examples of BODY activities we use in class include:
π§ββοΈ Breathing Exercises
β
We practise slow breathing to help students calm their minds and bodies.
πββοΈ Movement Breaks
β
Stretching and fun exercises help students reset and refocus.
π§ββοΈ Mindfulness Activities
β
We use simple activities like "5-4-3-2-1" grounding to bring awareness to the present moment.
π― Body Awareness Games
β
Games that build focus, balance, and body control.
π΅ Zones of Regulation Check-Ins
β
Students check in with their feelings and choose strategies to help them stay ready to learn.
How you can support at home:
π Encourage short movement breaks during homework.
π§ Practise deep breathing together when your child feels overwhelmed.
π£οΈ Talk about how they feel in their body and ways they can feel calm and ready to learn.π
